I had a good week keeping on track with my diet. Also, I am rediscovering my strained relationship with my treadmill. He has not had a lot of attention the past 2 months. I’ve recommitted to our relationship and promise to spend at least 5 days a week with him. I did finally make that delicious homemade pumpkin spiced latte that I found on WordPress here. As you can see here I added whipped cream to mine!
Fall is the time for eating & drinking yummy things with pumpkin in them.
I was camping over the weekend for my husband’s birthday. That includes lots of beer, marshmellows, chocolate chip cookies & potato chips. We did go on 2 hikes which helped so it’s not a huge gain this week. Oh, then we stopped at Macaroni Grill yesterday on the way home and I had their delicious rosemary bread and their eggplant parmesan. I’m back this morning to making a fruit smoothie and planning out meals for the week.
I’m getting on track and back on the treadmill this week. I’ve got a goal clearly in my mind and when I reach it I’m going clothes shopping! That’s my motivation.
Crap. I did not (OBVIOUSLY) keep on my Cinch diet this week. I blame a mix of not planning out my meals & also having a fun weekend of food and drinks at the Plaza Art fair. (I’m going to do a post to show you the delicious food later)
I had such a good time walking the 5K. I did it with 2 other women, we chatted the entire time and the time flew by. We got to the finish line and we were all 3 surprised that it was over. It was held at the Livestrong Sporting Park and the finish line was inside the stadium. Here I am sitting in Lance Armstrong’s special Livestrong yellow chair:
I’m going to do better and have great food to eat in the fridge & pantry to set me up for success.
Woohoo! I hit my weekly goal. It dipped below 70 degrees last week but I did not have a pumpkin spiced latte. I’ve been craving the Cheesecake Factory’s tiramisu but I have stayed away. I did have a small bowl of ice cream this past week but went for a run to burn it off.
I signed up for a 5K on Saturday and I’m so excited. I’m going to work out a lot this week and get a cute workout outfit from the Under Armour outlet. You have to look cute while you workout in public.
After 3 weeks of weight gain I’ve turned the corner. It’s not much but it’s going in the right direction. I was not very motivated this week and I can’t seem to find my motivation. Then I see posts on WordPress like this: http://dailynibbles.com/2010/11/11/in-the-kitchen-pumpkin-spice-latte/. Homemade pumpkin spice latte! Oh yeah, as soon as the weather dips below 70 I am on this. Then, I’m craving that delicious tiramisu I had at the Cheesecake Factory last week. I’ve thought about that more than once a day since I had it.
So, I’m left with thinking about what will be my motivation to start killing it again and getting a consistent 1 or 2 lb weight loss each week. I’m thinking a new outfit for fall in a size smaller. Or, my husband’s birthday at the end of the month? Any ideas? I’m a goal oriented person so I need something.
Well, I got the number correct but it went in the wrong direction. I’m not surprised. I celebrated turning 35 (also seeing my husband for an entire weekend) from Wed-Sun. We ate out and had dessert every night!
So, I’ll take my 2 lb weight gain. I am now planning out my healthy menu for the week and headed to Whole Foods today on this beautiful 60 degree Labor Day in Kansas City.
If you ever make it to Kansas City or Pittsburgh or New York. I’d check out Lidia’s. This is where we went for my birthday dinner. Check out the website here. Click on the restaurants tab to see the different locations. In Kansas City, Lidia’s is located near Union Station in a former railroad house. Here’s the view from our corner table:
They bring you out these delicious cheese sticks & rustic bread with 2 dipping sauces. They have a great wine list with a lot of Chianti options. Everyday they have 3 fresh, homemade pastas that they bring out to the tables and it’s called Pasta Tasting. The assistant waiters walk around with sauce pans and tongs freely doling out pasta! Since, I’m a vegetarian they made all 3 vegetarian for me. We had goat cheese raviolis, creamy rigatoni & a pasta with tomato sauce. My husband had shrimp and a sweet Italian sausage in his. A small touch that I appreciate is the quality of the cheese that is sitting on your table to add to your pasta. And of course, they had delicious homemade desserts.
Here we are before our 2 bottles of Chianti:
On Friday night we headed to Cheesecake Factory to use a gift card I received. I had their new Veggie Burger which was very good. I really enjoyed it. It is on their Skinnylicious Menu and it is served with a small salad but being my birthday weekend I requested fries instead. Also, we got desserts to go. I always get a cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, Duh! But for some reason the tiramisu was calling me. This was the BEST tiramisu I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to get it again. If you want to splurge you have to give it a try.
So, I am back to Cinch and I’m excited to rid my body of all the salt & sugar and get back to my “new” normal. I may do a 2 day fast forward some time this month but I’m not feeling like it today. Also, my other sister really wanted to read Cinch. It’s only $14.99 on Amazon right now. I’m going to order her one this week. If you don’t have a copy yet what are you waiting for? Check it out here. Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds & Lose Inches. Let’s Go People!
I have been very busy this week and I have not kept up with my blog or my diet very well. Although I take responsibility, there is one clear culprit in my weight gain. That is the new Trader Joe’s in Kansas City. And their accessory in this crime is none other than their dark chocolate peanut butter cups:
and dark chocolate covered pretzels:
Be warned! They are highly addictive. I bought these for my husband’s lunches – – at least that is what I told myself. I’ve discovered I have no self-control when these are in the house. I would convince myself to substitute my daily chocolate escape with a portion of one of these. Then, before I knew it I was sitting on the couch eating 400-500 calories of these. Other than my obsession with these yummy treats, I have been doing well on my diet and I’ve been going to the local park almost every day to walk 3 miles. I am only up 2 lbs from my pre cruise weight in late July. Not too bad.
Today is my birthday so I am definitely going to celebrate being 35 today, well this weekend too! I might get a chocolate milkshake from Chic-Fil-A after my facial & mani-pedi today. The real diet starts Labor Day. Then I am back on track and I know not to bring anything chocolate-covered home from Trader Joe’s. Gheeez.
